Youth judo at Essink: more than a sport

Judo is one of the most popular self-defence sports, and not without reason! It’s all about making clever use of your opponent’s strength and speed, while keeping your own balance. You not only learn to knock your opponent off balance, but also work on your own strength, technique and coordination at the same time. Judo is a great way to train your whole body in a playful and active way.

Why Judo?
Judo is much more than a physical sport. It was developed from Jiu-Jitsu by Jigoro Kano and combines movement, discipline and self-confidence. During classes you will learn:

  • Dealing positively with energy and aggression.
  • Self-control, respect and cooperation.
  • Dealing with loss and gain.
  • Building self-confidence, which can make a big difference especially for children with low self-confidence.

Besides serious techniques, we make the lessons for young judokas especially fun and challenging, with lots of games and fun!

For beginners and talents
At Essink, children from the age of 5 can get acquainted with judo. Whether you want to practice recreationally or dream of competing, there are opportunities for everyone.
