In winter, it can sometimes be hard to maintain motivation for exercise.
It’s cold, dark soon, and you’d rather snuggle up warm on the sofa in the evening. Yet exercise is great for fighting winter blues! Here are 5 tips to keep fit through the winter!
Change your routine. Doing the same thing every time can be quite boring. Join a different group class or ask our trainers for some exercise inspiration. They will be happy to help!
- Find an exercise buddy. If you feel your motivation starting to drop a bit, it can help to stay in shape with a friend and still give each other a push.
- Set a goal. Giving yourself a goal to work towards gives you direction and motivation. For example, do you want to take part in an obstacle run or other sporting event? Then it helps to see what it will take to achieve that goal. Even if you want to lose weight or simply feel good about yourself. In the end, you get satisfaction from the small steps you make on the way.
- Download an app. There are plenty of apps that can help you achieve your goal! For example, they can help you with all kinds of different exercises, from yoga and stretching to cardio and strength. You can also use an app to track your results, which is often extra motivating. Examples are MyFitnessPall, Sworkit, Fitness Buddy and RunKeeper.
- Track your progress. If you notice that you are making progress and getting closer to your goal, you will feel fitter and more energetic both mentally and physically. Don’t be too hard on yourself and be realistic; balance is key. Good luck!
